Getting Started
Setting up your RapidCast PVR Pro experience
Network Installation
Step 1: Installation
NOTE: Use your best hardware for the server and make sure all PCs can access the folder for read and write. It is highly recommended to use UNC paths otherwise all machines accessing the application will need to map to the same drive letter, including the server if you run the app there.
Download and extract the RapidCast PVR Pro folder to your preferred shared location (e.g.,
D:\RapidCast). Verify the included
ffmpeg and
libvlc folders are inside your application directory.
Step 2: Set Up Shortcuts
From workstations, open the folder through UNC paths where you extracted the program. Find the RapidCast PVR Pro executable. Create a shortcut to the file and place it where you wish.
Step 3: Set Up Folders
Launch the application. It will take several seconds to open. This is due to the initialization of ffmpeg and vlc, and I cannot speed that up. Click on Settings(tools icon). Choose locations for Playlists and Recordings. You should use a shared location for these as well because all other PCs will look for these folders. NOTE: If a PC cannot access these locations, it will default to local folders and therefore will not be able to use the shared playlists or recordings.
Step 4: Add Playlists
Click the
Add Playlist button. Paste your
provider's m3u_plus URL into the URL field. Name the playlist whatever you want.
If your provider's URL ends in "type=m3u", change it to "type=m3u_plus." If you download a standard M3U, the channels will all go under one group with no EPG.
Click OK and wait until the channel list appears. Not all services provide complete and properly formatted files. If after several minutes channels do not appear, you will need to use an online editor to create a properly formatted URL. IPTVEditor.com is an excellent service for this purpose.
I am looking to add Xtream Codes support in future editions.

Basic Operation
Check Only Show Channels With EPG to filter out channels with no guide data
Leave this unchecked for Movies or Series as many of these do not have a guide
Double-click a channel to watch
Use F11 to toggle full-screen view
Select then right-click a channel to initiate recording. Set the length of time you wish to record and the resulting file format
Select then right-click a Movie or Series episode and click Record This. It will download to your recordings folder. The time remaining in the Scheduled Recordings section is just a window to allow enough time for the download to complete.
Click Recordings Library to access a recording. Double-click an item to play it
Need Help?
If your stream disconnects frequently, increase your Network Buffer and Dead Stream Timeout settings in the configuration menu. For optimal performance on low-power devices like the N150, ensure "Hide Recording Window" is enabled. If something happens, and the program won't launch, check the task manager and kill any running instances of the app. Then delete the file rapidcast_settings from the program's installation folder. This will "factory reset" the app. Don't worry about your playlists. Once the Playlist folder is set to the existing location, the playlists will be auto-discovered and added.
